KIDS COMMUNITY CHOIR

Practices for the Patriotic Kid's Choir will go from August 14 to September 4, every Sunday afternoon from 5:00 to 5:45 PM.  Children 1st grade – 6th grade are welcome to simply show up at the Landmark Baptist Church for practices.  The choir will sing at the Rally around 8:00 PM.

 

 

ADULT COMMUNITY CHOIR

Practices for the Adult Community Choir will go from August 14 to September 4, every Sunday afternoon from 5:00 to 5:45 PM.  Practices will take place at the Landmark Baptist Church.  Anyone 7th grade or older is welcome to join.   The choir will sing during the Rally around 8:30 PM.

 

 

GREAT AMERICAN PIE-BAKING COMPETITION

Enter this competition by bringing a homemade pie to the Rally!   Pies must be submitted by 5:30 PM at the Rolla Lions Club Park.  Prizes from local businesses will be presented to the winners from 7:30 to 8:00 PM.  First place will receive a blue ribbon and a pie from Slice of Pie in Rolla.  The pie entries will also be presented to the public for tasting!

 

 

 

ART & WRITING COMPETITION

The public is invited to enter a Patriotic Art & Writing Competition. 

 

Divisions

There are 4 categories in the Junior Division (age 14 and under) and 4 categories in the Senior Division (ages 15 and up).

 

Theme

The theme this year for all art and writing entries is “Preserving our American Heritage”.

 

Submit Your Entries

All entries must be received by noon on September 2rd.  You may drop off your entries at the Bank of Salem in Salem, MO or any Phelps County Bank location in Rolla or St. James, MO.  Include:  NAME, AGE, ADDRESS, AND PHONE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR ENTRY.  Neither the Patriot Day Rally nor the drop-off sites will be responsible for lost or damaged items.

 

Prizes

Awards and gift certificates will be presented at the rally to 1st - 3rd place winners in each category.  All participants will receive a consolation prize.

 

ART COMPETITION

You may enter any form of art (including pen and ink, watercolor, oils, etc.)  Art will be judged by a panel of judges on relevance to the theme, creativity, etc.  All entries should be framed and ready to hang.

 

PHOTO COMPETITION

Photo entries may be black and white or color.  Entries will be judged by a panel of judges on relevance to the theme, creativity, etc.  All entries must be 8x10 and permanently mounted in an 11x14 mat board.  Please enclose the entry in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag.

 

POETRY COMPETITION

Poetry entries may have any meter and may or may not rhyme.  All entries should be 20 lines or less.  They should support the theme and will be judged according to creativity and originality.  Please submit your entry in a manila envelope.

 

ESSAY COMPETITION

Junior Division

Each essay should contain up to 150 words about the theme (only neat papers will be read).  Please submit your entry in a manila envelope.

 

Senior Division

Each essay should contain up to 350 words about the theme. Please submit your entry in a manila envelope.
